The painter Richard Wiesner (6. 7. 1900 Ruda na Moravě – 6. 11. 1972 Praha) first trained as a decorative painter, in 1920-1922 he studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Prague with Prof. Arnošt Hofbauer and in 1922-1928 at the Prague Academy. Here he first attended the general school with Professor Jakub Obrovský for two years and then figural painting with Professor Vratislav Nechleba. After graduating from the Academy he completed a two-year study stay in Paris, where he later returned several times. In 1930 he became a member of the SVU Mánes and was also a member of the Skupina 58. In 1940-1942 he taught at the School of Art in Zlín.n with white, red and brown accents.

As an artist he was very versatile, his work includes paintings, graphics, sculptures, monumental paintings and a special chapter are realizations for architecture. In painting he focused on still life and landscape, intimate mood themes, portraits and figural compositions, in which he sought a connection between modern art and traditional values. His knowledge of the work of Édouard Manet had a major influence on his work and he was also inspired by old Czech portrait painting, literature and expressionism.
From the end of the 1950s Wiesner stayed in the quiet still life of the Orlické Mountains, in the village Říčky, which became his second home. It was here that the painting from the OGV collections in Jihlava, "Summer Evening in Říčky" was created, which is a testament especially to the painter's refined sense of colour, which became for him the basic means of expression for capturing the intimate mood in the simple motif of evening works in the garden.
