Who are God
Who are God's warriors?

We successfully completed our first trip with the kids this year!

There is one limitation to trips with children, and that is the availability of public transport. I had Tábor on my list of potential stops from the beginning, but I wasn't sure how long the trip would take. The time we spent in Tábor was equal to the time we spent on the train. Nevertheless, we decided to go to the city of the Hussites, and we did the right thing.

Our goal was the Hussite Museum, which I visited about five years ago with my sons, and we really liked it. In addition, I learned that since then they have restored the exhibition and that fellow educators organize interesting programs for children. And one more thing was important, Jan Žižka had his death anniversary last year and the museum prepared a thematic exhibition for him. I contacted my colleague Kateřina Nimrichtrová in October last year to arrange a date for our visit. As part of it, in addition to the educational program, she offered us a tour of the underground and the museum's exhibitions. So it was clear that we would spend the specified time in the Hussite Museum and we would have no time left for anything else. But in the winter, it is an ideal option.

The train journey to Tábor went without any complications. It was great that not many people were traveling in the same direction, so the children had compartments to themselves. In addition, we had prepared worksheets and simple crafts suitable for the train for them. At the museum, Kateřina took care of us immediately upon arrival, and she had prepared a program for the children called Jan Žižka, villain or hero? I must say that I also like to participate in programs because I have the opportunity to see how my colleagues work. The almost two-hour meeting was very well prepared and the exhibition was especially adapted to the child visitor. The children also rated the educational program as very beneficial. The most common reason was that they learned a lot of new information about Žižka and began to "look at him a little differently".

After the program, we went for lunch to the restaurant located in the next building. After the trip from Jindřichův Hradec, my colleague Jana and I decided to include a hot meal in the program of the day. In the winter months, it is a more pleasant option for children than a cold snack from home. After a delicious lunch, we returned to the museum, where the guide was already waiting for us and we descended into the Tábor underground. It is different from our Jihlava underground, so the children had the opportunity to compare. We spent more time in the underground than originally expected. So we didn't have that much time left to tour the museum's exhibits. Nevertheless, the children tried out the most interesting activities, such as a military chainmail shirt and sitting on a throne. Then it was necessary to return to the train station. There we were unpleasantly surprised by the almost half-hour delay of the train. But the train driver managed to speed it up, so we arrived in Jihlava just a little later than originally expected.

We deliberately chose this trip on a day during the mid-year holidays. I feel that the children were still educated, but in a completely different, mainly relaxing way. We would like to thank Kateřina Nimrichtrová and the staff of the Hussite Museum for their very helpful approach and kind welcome! We would be happy to come back to you sometime!
