Magdaléna Manderlová: And everything is suddenly a bird and wants to fly away

16. 11. 2022 — 19. 2. 2023

sound gallery IGLOO
Komenský street no. 10, Jihlava
curator: Miloš Vojtěchovský

The sound essay, supplemented by several objects, captures the flow of memories evoked by listening to the voices of common swifts. The composition is assembled from field recordings, spoken word and fragments of songs. Memories of straw bales, bird voices, plant flowers, the darkness of coal mine shafts, or the metaphor of thoughts like pine seeds that grow into tall trees come back here. The English version of the composition was released on cassette by Breton Cassette in early 2022 and can be heard on a cassette player with headphones at the exhibition.

Komensky Street No. 10
586 01 Jihlava
Curator:: Eva Bendová

Flying, flight, aeronautics, sky and space conquering have a rich history, but also countless pictorial forms and meanings. The exhibition will show the projection of the phenomenon of aviation into Czech visual culture between 1783 (the first takeoff of the balloon) and 1957 (the launch of the first spacecraft). The exhibition does not map the history of flying, it focuses on the essential symbols and themes in modern painting - from paintings and sculptures to book illustrations, posters or film and their social meanings.

Štefan Uhrecký – Breakfast with Šebesta

7. 9. — 16. 10. 2022

ALTERNATIVA
Komensky Street No. 10
Jihlava
Curator: Petr Kovář

Štefan Uhrecký is a painter with the rightly tempted (un)confidence in the viability of the painting as a reflection of freely experienced reality. Free gesture, the throwing of the current sharpened form no matter what it may bring, has always been characteristic for Štefan, but in addition to the essential intuitive component, he has a constant self-reflection, a subversive irony; in the paintings he blends the so-called high with the low, they are constructed by their own breaking, the serious is downplayed and vice versa, but not as a whim or a search for artistic tendencies, but a real struggle for oneself
