Šárka Trčková and her students
The Pilsen native - painter and graphic artist Šárka Trčková (1965-2015) will always be one of the visual artists whose lives came to an end too soon, but her work still bears all the hallmarks of a complete and focused statement. Together with Vladimír Kokolia, with whom she has long participated in the management of the Grafika II studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, they formed a balanced and complementary team. She has never been a fashion artist, but her journey is all the more concentrated, naturally developed and connected with what she has experienced. At the same time, she was practically always considered a respected and valued professional authority, whose opinion has its weight and force, while the quality of judgment is in line with the quality of her own work. It is exceptional in many respects, starting with technological experiments or foreshadowing the renaissance of Czech watercolor and watercolor painting in general. The most important quality, however, is the quiet but emphatic ability to communicate fundamental truths and facts about human life by almost minimalist means.
