IGLOO sound gallery

The IGLOO sound gallery is a creative space for the presentation of artists working with sound. Sound art is by its nature an interdisciplinary and hybrid art form and can include sound installations and sculptures, sound poetry, field recordings, sound maps, radio games or audiovisual works. Through the exhibition operation of this space, we would also like to encourage the creation of new projects.

The Sound Gallery was opened in 2016 in the basement of the gallery building in Komenského Street. It is one of the few gallery spaces designed exclusively for the presentation of sound projects. The program of exhibitions compiled by the space curator, Miloš Vojtěchovský, builds on the previous dramaturgy of Lenka Dolanová, and focuses on the concept of an accessible and attractive program for the visitor.

2022
Under the curatorial leadership of Miloš Vojtěchovský, following projects are planned for the IGLOO sound gallery:

Adam Hejduk, sound installation
Lloyd Dunn aka (nula), audiovisual installation

Martin Marek & Iva Polanecká, audiovisual installation
Magdaléna Manderlová, sensory installation

2021
Curator Miloš Vojtěchovský takes over the dramaturgy of the IGLOO sound gallery space. The originally intended concept of exhibitions, based on interconnection with public space, is largely influenced by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Within the four implemented projects, there is also one thematic debate, a sound walk and several workshops for children.

Tomáš Šenkyřík - Stories from Plaček's Forest / 13. 5. - 11. 7. 2021

2020
The coronavirus pandemic is interfering with the planned dramaturgy. Only one project takes place in the gallery, developing the theme of the exhibition Adriena Šimotová, Jiří John - Double imagination in the form of a sound installation presenting a selection of Adriena Šimotová‘s ideas.

2019
The concept of the gallery is changing slightly. Over the course of several evenings, we present sound performances, listening evenings and sound workshops, involve the public in the creation and perception of current sound art, and present current European and domestic approaches to sound production.
