Academic painter Alois Podloucký (April 24, 1890 Žďár nad Sázavou – January 1, 1965 Nové Město na Moravě) is rightly ranked among the leading personalities of our region, not only in the field of art and education, but also in the field of public life, which was closely connected with the region of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands and Horácko, as well as his extensive and diverse work.

The Jihlava gallery owns a fairly representative collection of works by Alois Podloucký, which includes landscape paintings, civilian themes, but also figurative subjects, for example. The painting Winter in Horácko from the final period of the painter's work is a typical example of his work. In addition to still lifes, Alois Podloucký's paintings mainly focused on landscape painting, where he was thematically inspired almost exclusively by his native region. He painted the Highlands and the rugged mountain landscape in all seasons, their changes and moods. His paintings are characterized by technical skill, vivid color and mastery of complex spatial problems.
