The project of Alessandra Svatek (1979) – a painter who cannot bring herself to use colors, takes the form of a symbolic journey in the sense of visual introspection. Although she looks back through her spatial installation, her focus is not on memories, but on her own overcome beliefs, which she gradually tests on herself over the years.

IGLOO sound gallery

The installation in Igloo gallery follows the piece The Radčice Transformers, which was exhibited in 2022 in Prague. This time it is a set of sound recordings from Jihlava and it presents a wide spectrum of vibrations of the Vysočina transformers (however, all belong to the dominion of ČEZ company and are interconnected to the pan-european electricity distribution system). One channel of each set complements the sonic ambient from particular location of individual transformers so one can hear as well cars, birds or wind.

intervention in the covered Renaissance courtyard of the gallery

Jiří Příhoda prepared an architecturally conceived intervention in the Renaissance courtyard of the gallery, looking back at the convolution of performances and interventions covered by the theme of the Roštejna Sculpture Park from the beginning of his work. Jiří Příhoda is originally from Vysočina, but today he belongs to internationally successful artists.

The exhibition "Outside the gallery! Art in Czech public space after 1989" was prepared last year by the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery together with theorist Petr Kratochvíl and sculptor Petra Vlachynská. It presents over sixty realizations in public space – from events to temporary interventions to permanently placed works of art, as well as a selection of works or happenings from the 1960s to the 1980s, as well as nine art festivals that have significantly influenced public space for many years.

The exhibition reflects the local situation of artists in the Vysočina region, who establish themselves in an environment outside art centers rather through social activities; by founding associations, organizing cultural events, acting through theater or various types of community informal education, rather than own creative activity.

The exhibition deals with two phenomena that were intertwined between 1925 and 1931 and with which its two central figures – Otakar Nejedlý (1883–1957) and Josef Hubáček (1899–1931) are also connected.
