Return
Květa Válová, Return, 1992, color linocut, 297 x 210 mm, private collection

The topic of return can be viewed from many angles. Returning home or to a loved one, as in the case of the biblical story of a lost son, returning to important values, returning the soul back to the Creator, to the Earth.

At the exhibition The Válová Sisters Under one sky in the Vysočiny Regional Gallery in Jihlava you can see the drawing by Květa Válová (Reconciliation, undated, charcoal drawing, 212 x 302 mm, GASK – the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region), in which the subject of this graphic processing was born (Květa Válová, Return, 1992, color linocut, 297 x 210 mm, private collection), and later of the painting (Květa Válová, Return, 1995, oil on canvas, 150.5 × 162 cm, private collection). The curator of the exhibition Dagmar Šubrtová linked the preparatory charcoal drawing to the author's drawing Merciful Samaritan (1992, pastel, 120 x 90 cm, private collection) and Stone (80s, pastel, 270 x 210 mm, GASK – the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region).

The stone slowly comes to life and transforms into a human figure, and on the contrary, the loving human grip of the merciful Samaritan and the pilgrim merge into one homogeneous whole. Come and see, most of the works, very sensitively grouped into individual thematic units, are exhibited here for the very first time.
