The duo Dan Vlček-Tom Kotik has been crossing the boundaries of media in which they are used to working as independent artists for a long time in a series of continuous collaborations: their joint sound installations are complex works of art in which individual contributions are blurred, and the outcome is usually a joint work of art. In the project The Sound Inside for the Alternativa gallery, they approach the theme of mycelium as a metaphysical metaphor through an interactive installation that works with sound. The start of this continuous collaboration between the two artists on sound, but still architecturally tuned, visually appealing site-specific installations dates back to 2021, when they started thinking about the joint project Big Science, which also included cooperation with Faculty of Textile Engineering TU Liberec. The successful presentation of the outcome as part of the exhibition in Pragovka gallery was followed by a joint residency of the two artists as part of the William P. Rayner Artist in Residence program on Long Island under the famous Guild Hall, where their work was tutored by curator Anthony Madonna, as well as multimedia artist Laurie Anderson.

Tom Kotik (born 1969) is a sculptor, painter and musician of Czech origin, living in New York. He regularly exhibits in the Czech Republic and abroad. The connection between sound and image, color, which refers to synaesthesia, is central to his work. No less crucial is the interest in a wide range of materials, among which the fascination with the rhythmicity of colored surfaces, rhythm with sound - and especially silence stands out.

Daniel Vlček (born 1978) belongs to the constants of the Prague music and art scene. In the center of his attention has long been an interest in sound in the sense of electromagnetic waves and rhythm - both visual and sound. Daniel Vlček is focused on painting, multimedia installations and music. His wide range of activities in the past also included work at Guma Guar, the Berlin Model and the Ferdinand Baumann Gallery, and he is still active in several musical projects. He has been exploring the relationship between sound and image, interpreted through technological devices, in various forms for several years.
